FAQs
Choosing Your Coffee
What’s the best coffee?
TLDR: the one you look forward to drinking every morning.Long answer: If you like smooth and easy drinking coffee, start with Cascadia. If you love milk-based drinks or want something richer, choose BOLD espresso. If you are adventurous or want something with personality and complexity, try one of our single origin coffees. Each coffee has tasting notes that make choosing easier than picking a Netflix show.
How do I choose the right coffee?
Think flavour first. Blends are your everyday heroes. Single origins are your “treat yourself” moment with brighter, more distinct flavours. If you’re new to specialty coffee, Cascadia and RAD are the perfect starting point.
What roast level should I pick?
Medium roasts like Cascadia are balanced, sweet, and easy-drinking. Our BOLD espresso roast is richer and stands up beautifully in lattes and cappuccinos. Our single origins are roasted a bit lighter to highlight their natural flavour, so think clean, bright, and complex. Choose the profile that matches how you drink coffee. There is no wrong answer.
Which grind setting do I need?
Choose whole bean if you grind at home. You will always get the best results.
If you want ground:
- Drip grind for standard coffee makers
- French press grind for Bodum or immersion brewing
- Espresso grind for home espresso machines
- Pour over grind for V60 or Kalita
- If you are unsure, whole bean is the safest and most flexible choice.
About Our Coffee
What’s the deal with Sammy and barista competitions?
Prado is led by Sammy Piccolo, a four-time Canadian Barista Champion and longtime leader in the specialty coffee world. He represented Canada at the World Barista Championships taking the podium each year. No small feat. His techniques, care and craft - paired with a little of his coffee OCD - means our cafes and team are influenced by the best of the best.
Where is your coffee from?
We source our coffee from some of the most respected growing regions in the world including Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ethiopia and other seasonal origins. Each coffee is chosen for flavour, balance and quality through trusted import partners who care about ethical sourcing and long term relationships with producers.
Where is your coffee roasted?
All Prado coffee is roasted locally in the Vancouver area - Burnaby to be specific.
How should I store my coffee?
Keep it in an airtight container at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. We don’t recommend the fridge or freezer. Just a good container and a spot on your counter.
